How To Get Autumn's Berry Lip at the Drugstore | Beauty & Baggage

I am sure you'd be loving all the amazing guest bloggers that have been sharing their beauty passion with us while I am attending to my wedding preps. Today joining the bunch of all those inspiring bloggers is Seonaid from Beauty & Baggage...

Hey everyone!
It's Seonaid here, from Beauty & Baggage. Today I'm talking about how to get that awesome, deep berry lip that has been featured in countless fall campaigns - YSL new Rouge Pur Mattes, Estee Lauder's Midnight Violets, Lancome's new purple-heavy fall collection - but for less at the drugstore.
Here are my five lipsticks and one lipliner that I think work to make an awesome berry lip.

L-R:  Accessorize Lipstick in Passionate; Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss Lipstick in 04; Topshop Lipstick in Beguiled; Revlon Lipstick in Black Cherry; Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Crush; Sleek Eau La La Liner in Raisin.
These six lip colours represent all kinds of finishes - from sheer and glossy in Revlon's Crush, to matte and opaque in Sleek's Raisin. They also represent a spectrum of colour in the berry lip range, from deep blackened purple to a red wine. And not one of these products costs more than £8.

Accessorize Lipstick in Passionate: This is a gorgeous, crushed blackberry lipstick that I've waxed lyrical about on my blog before. It's pigmented, smooth and contains a little pot of similarly coloured gloss to slip over the matte lipstick for a glossy effect. I love this.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick by Kate Moss in 04: This is a fairly recent addition to my collection, and one that quite scared me at first. Neither glossy nor matte, with more of a satin finish, this is a true, opaque and blackened purple with goth overtones and a wonderful effect. I love this more than I thought I would, it is quite striking on fair skin. However, I think this is a shade that would work well on an array of skin tones.

Topshop Lipstick in Beguiled: Only my second Topshop lipstick, and I have to say I love the application and finish of this much more than my first. A smooth, satiny red wine colour this applied opaque in a swipe and transferred a deep, luxurious red velvet shade to the lips. Less purple than other shades, but no less of a beautiful dark berry-tone to work into autumn.

Revlon Lipstick in Black Cherry: Despite the smudged upper lip in this photo, I love this lipstick. Hyper-glossy, slick and smooth, this is a crushed blackberry purple with serious shots of red throughout. This was my first foray into dark lipsticks and since it has featured on my blog multiple times. A truly beautiful colour.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Crush: My favourite of the Revlon Balm Stains, and a great way to break into the berry trend if the full on opaque lipsticks scare you. This is a gorgeous glossy stain in a deep raspberry pink with purple undertones, which stains the lips a deep pink once the gloss has faded away. I quite enjoy the menthol scent as well.

Sleek Eau La La Liner in Raisin: Another new addition for me, and one of my favourites. Sleek released a bunch of these liners a while ago, for use on lips and eyes. This could be used alone or with a lipstick layered on top - and the colour alone is quite striking and lovely. A deep, plummy matte purple, this wears for ages and is actually quite difficult to remove. It's a beautiful colour and I'm so glad I bought it.

So, what are your drugstore plum, berry and wine favourites for autumn? Let me know, and pop over to Beauty and Baggage, where in future posts I'll be showing how I apply a dark berry lip, and what other makeup I wear with it.
